Awful Treatment and Kinds Stay Step-Ahead of Staff

The facility was nice. The treatment was awful. The people who work at Centered Health seemed well-intentioned, but they are in way over their heads. Kids were cheeking medication and sharing it with each other, crushing it and snorting it. The staff had no idea. When several of us learned about this from our children, we reported it to the program staff. They not only were stunned that it was happening, they were stunned that such a thing could happen anywhere. The person I spoke with said that she never would have thought of such a thing. I never felt safe with my kid there again. Isn't it the job of a treatment program to know about these things and stay a step ahead of the kids? Not the case here. The kids run the show at Centered Health and it's not to their benefit.

Centered Health Adolescent Treatment Center Fails to Properly Discipline Harassment

When we got our daughter home from this program, she was withdrawn and seemed hopeless. I thought she might just be having trouble adjusting to being back home. She later confided in me that when she was at Centered Health, she was harassed by boys in multiple ways, sexual and otherwise. She didn't say anything to us because she was afraid of the repercussions from her peers. She told us that when she reported things to staff, they didn't seem to know what to do and would awkwardly discuss things with the perpetrators and then leave them unsupervised for more harassment as a deprecation of speaking up. We are now working with a therapist to address the trauma she experienced in treatment. No family should have to go through this!
